Summer programs will be located at two locations on two bodies of water, Oakland and Orinda. Look closely at the camp you are registering for.

Learn to Row Camps

$350 per each 1 week session

This camp is an introduction to the wonderful sport of rowing.  We will focus on learning the basic rowing stroke in a fun and no pressure environment.

No previous rowing experience necessary!  Open to anyone entering 6th to 12th grades in the Fall of 2017.

San Pablo Reservoir, Orinda
Time: 8:30 to 11:30am

  • Session 1 Learn to Row Camp: June 12 to June 17
  • Session 2 Learn to Row Camp: June 19 to July 23
  • Session 3 Learn to Row Camp: June 26 to June 30

Tidewater Boating Center
Time: 8:30 to 11:30am

  • Session 4 Learn to Row Camp: July 10 to July 14
  • Session 5 Learn to Row Camp: July 17 to July 21
  • Session 6 Learn to Row Camp: July 24 to July 28

CONTINUING ROWING CAMPS

$350 per 1 week session

This camp builds on our Learn to Row camps. Technical skills improvement is a major focus, teaching the athletes to be better rowers. This camp will also have a conditioning component to it, with at least one hour per day will be focused on athletic conditioning.

This camp is open to all athletes who have attended at least one session of summer camp or a school year middle school session. Open to anyone entering 6th to 12th grades in the Fall of 2017.

Introduction to Competitive Rowing CAMPS

$350 per 1 week session

A $100 per week discount is offered to all athletes who volunteer during our morning Learn to Row sessions.  See requirements below.

This camp builds on our Continuing Rowing camps. Continued technical skills development and conditioning is stressed as athletes learn what it will be like to be part of the Oakland Strokes Competitive Rowing Team. This camp will have a conditioning component to it, with at least one hour per day will be focused on athletic conditioning.

This camp is open to all athletes who have attended the Continuing Rowing camp, or the Oakland Strokes Advanced Middle School program (or equivalent).  Open to anyone entering 8th to 12th grades in the Fall of 2017.

Volunteer Guidelines

The Oakland Strokes are offering a discount for athletes who volunteer to attend at the entire week of the learn to row camp and actively volunteer and participate. Volunteers must have either completed a year in the Advanced Middle School program, Novice program, or above.  Please talk to your coach for information on how to sign up.

Note: Volunteers will be active from 8:30am to 1:30pm, please come prepared with food and water!

Men's & Women's Varsity Camp

$200 Per Week

The goals of the camp are to increase technical ability, strength and aerobic conditioning, with an emphasis on skill acquisition and learning to train. This camp will focus on improving small boat skills, learning basic sculling skills, learning to row both sides in sweep, and fitness development. With the following activities being part of the weekly plan: running, erging, weights, and rowing. The camp will be coed and run by Coach Dave Adams.

Eligibility: This camp is open to Oakland Strokes athletes only who will be enrolled on the Varsity squads in the Fall of 2017.  Rowers and coxswains transitioning from the Novice squad to the Varsity squad are highly encouraged to participate.

Athletes are encouraged to take all sessions; however, they can sign up for as many of the camp sessions as they wish.

Time: 3:30 to 5:30pm; Monday - Friday

Notes: 

  1. There will be no camp the week July 3rd to July 7th so you can enjoy the July 4th holiday with your families.
  2. The team will not compete at Canadian Henley this year.
